UntitledFoster Carers who wish to become Special Guardians

For some children in foster care, it can be a positive outcome for foster carers to take on special guardianship. If you are interested in becoming the special guardian of a child in your care, you should discuss this with your Fostering Social worker and the child’s social worker. The social workers can share with you information about the consequences of this change of status and the support that you might be able to access under Special Guardianship. Should this plan be pursued, the Fostering Service will undertake a Special Guardianship assessment and support you through the court process.
