Support Lodgings Landscape 2021

Do you have a spare bedroom and live in Cannock or Tamworth? Would you like to make a positive difference to a young person’s life? Then supported lodgings might just be what you are looking for.

What is supported lodgings?

Supported lodgings is an alternative to foster care and offers young people aged 16-19 the opportunity to live in a family environment but where they are given more independence.

Instead of being a foster carer you become a supported lodgings host. As a host you provide the young person with practical skills such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting which they will need when they move into independence. Lots of our hosts continue to work full-time or part-time and be host.

Some of the young people may have previously lived in foster care and some may be unaccompanied asylum seekers. Like fostering you would be expected to support the young person to access education or training and if assylum seeking support them to attend any legal appointments.

What support will I receive?

The young person will have their own social worker and/or personal advisor. As a host you will receive, on-going regular support from the supported lodgings co-ordinator, a weekly allowance of £180 and access to training opportunities.

If you are interested in becoming a host please enquire online or alternatively you can call us on 0800 169 2061.
